I have also applied my exploration of paper art in my practice to outside work such as the pieces above. These were submissions to the AUB Illustration silent auction, to raise money for our degree show. I chose to create simple but effective paper cut images, that have been pinned raised so that if a light is shone on them, beautiful appear behind. I think the series of three birds is the more effective image. mostly as it has the most movement and is so striking due to its simplicity. The reindeer image is nice, however if I did it again, I would make sure there was nothing behind the maroon coloured deer's cut outs. I think the maroon reindeer gets lost in the image. I really enjoyed making these images and I think they are strong pieces considering the time I have to make them (2 days). I would love to develop this style of working as it really translates my previous linear and mark making drawing style into paper cut.
