I came across Andrea Dezso in Push Paper (2011) whilst researching for my dissertation. I was interested to find artists that used paper in a theatrical manner, that could even be described a performance. What struck me about Dezso's paper cuts were her application of images in layers and the role of lighting and photography in her work. In pieces such as Sometimes in My Dreams I Fly (2010) [See below images], she has lit the tunnel (pop-up) book installations with coloured LED lights. The effect is atmospheric lighting that seduces the viewer into an imaginary world.
I have recently contacted the artist with a few questions, in which she has replied and agreed to answer the questions in the next few weeks.
