Inspiration: 1927 Theatre company
In my research I have come across 1927, a theatre production company that collaborates performance with projected moving images. The heads behind this concept are theatre-maker and actress Suzanne Andrade and animator Paul Barritt. I really like their approach to theatre, its all a bit wacky and different, and definitely defies everything someone would expect from a theatre show. The combination of actors performing in front of an animation works really well in this case. This is because the performer gets involved with the animation by using props. For example: Holes in the projected set, where the actor pops out from. Even though, I really like their concept, i am not a huge fan of the way in which the animator has portrayed the characters projected in the animations. I think they are a little incoherent with the scenery he has created.
I like the idea of making my images move as an illustrative response to set design. These could be projected onto 3D images that I have made or can make. Obviously with the limited time I have left, there are limits to what I make. However I am positive that this could lead onto interesting things in my Major project.
